    Position: Bookkeeper/Payroll Clerk Location: BVCAP Head Start/Early Head Start Programs, Bryan, Texas Type: Full-time

    Overview: Join our team at BVCAP Head Start/Early Head Start Programs in Bryan, Texas, where we are seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper/Payroll Clerk to maintain our financial records and payroll operations.     Responsibilities:

    Bookkeeping:

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Head Start/Early Head Start programs.

    Record financial transactions, including income, expenses, and payroll.

    Reconcile bank statements and accounts payable/receivable.

    Prepare financial reports for management as needed.

    Payroll Processing:

    Utilize ADP software to process payroll for Head Start/Early Head Start staff accurately and on time.

    Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations.

    Calculate and record payroll deductions, including taxes and benefits.

    Address any payroll-related inquiries or issues from staff members.

    Financial Administration/Accounts Payable:

    Facilitate purchasing processes in adherence to budgetary guidelines.

    Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.

    Coordinate with the finance department for financial reporting requirements.

    Participate in audits as necessary, providing requested documentation and support.

    Compliance:

    Stay current with relevant federal, state, and local payroll and bookkeeping regulations.

    Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other applicable regulations.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of an associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

    Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in bookkeeping, accounts payable, and payroll processing.

    Proficiency in accounting software; experience with ADP payroll software preferred.

    Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.

    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

    Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

    Experience working in a non-profit or educational setting.

    Familiarity with Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
