    Organization Overview: The Louisiana Organization for Refugees and Immigrants (LORI) supports refugees and immigrants in the journey of integration in Louisiana by providing programs and services to develop skills, knowledge and understanding their responsibilities to become self-reliant and civically active.

    Position Overview: The Bookkeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping, provide logistical support for office operations, and manage requisitions.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities (100%) Bookkeeping (80%): ● Record Transactions: Responsible for recording and maintaining accurate financial transactions. ● Maintain Financial Records: Verify and post financial records for the accountant to create financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. ● Financial Data for Reports: Responsible for overseeing and reconciling financial transactions such as payroll, accounts payable & receivables in the accounting systems to assert accuracy of transactions. ● Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly bank statements. ● Verify and Submit Payroll: Run payroll report and ensure correct salaries, with proper documentation and classification. Ensure tax payments are processed accordingly. ● Invoice Creation: Generate invoices for goods, services, and donations. ● Fund Management: Ensure that grant receipts and expenditures are aligned with corresponding grants. Ensure financial decisions are based on accurate records. ● Management of Employee Credit Card: Control and monitor credit card transactions for proper authorizations and classification. ● Reconcile Entries: Balance subsidiary accounts and prepare trial balance for the accounting firm. ● Budgeting: Assist with budget preparation and monitoring expenses. ● Internal Controls: Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures.

    Office Logistics Support (20%)

    ● Coordinate logistical needs for office operations, including office supply inventory and equipment maintenance. ● Manage requisitions for office and program supplies. ● Provide additional administrative support as needed.

    Required Qualifications/Skills: ● Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration or six (6) years’ equivalent business experience with a non-profit organization. ● Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in full-charge bookkeeping. ● Must have knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and a deep understanding of accounting principles and best practices. ● Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting and reporting software. (QuickBooks, Onpay, ADP, etc.) ● Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of LORI’s financial information. ● Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices and reporting of financial data. ● Demonstrated personal dedication and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. ● Possess strong organizational skills, disciplined, focused, and detailed-oriented with experience in establishing and implementing systems for organizing and managing campaigns, while also being adaptive and agile. ● Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while being goal-oriented, ability to work independently or as a team, ability to assume multiple roles, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. ● Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours when required. (compensatory time off provided in such instances).

    Preferred Qualifications/Skills: ● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance. ● Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP) ● Certified Public Accountant (CPA) ● Personal lived experiences that contribute to a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable refugees and immigrants.
