As an Accountant / Bookkeeper Associate at our Scottsdale office, you will be a crucial member of our administrative and financial operations team. This role supports a range of accounting and HR functions that keep our company running smoothly—from payroll and billing to vendor management and employee onboarding. Your daily impact:

• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll records.
• Onboard and offboard employees in coordination with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
• Handle timesheet review, expense processing, PTO tracking, and benefits administration.
• Perform monthly billing and client invoicing; track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Manage accounts payable, including vendor setup and invoice processing.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements; monitor and maintain company accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial reconciliation processes.
• Maintain and update vendor agreements and consultant subcontracts.
• Oversee project setup in accounting software; coordinate with project managers as needed.
• Handle bank deposits, incoming mail, and other general office administrative tasks.
• Prepare and distribute financial reports and payroll summaries.
• Coordinate employee travel arrangements and support firmwide administrative logistics.
• Provide ad hoc HR assistance, including scheduling interviews and managing pre-employment screenings.
• Maintain confidential employee and financial information in accordance with internal policies.

What you bring to the table:

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or at least two (2) years of experience in a similar position.
• Minimum of two (2) years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax reporting, and employee benefit programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software (Deltek/Ajera preferred).
• Familiarity with human resources tasks and systems (experience with a PEO is a plus).
• Previous experience supporting an engineering, architectural, or technical services firm is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
