    Who we are: We are a veterinary business that specializes in calves and cattle. Our clients produce dairy & dairy cross feeder calves, dairy replacement heifers, and dairy & beef fat cattle. We focus on preventative medicine through design of vaccine protocols, diagnostic services, management consultation, contract research and development, as well as providing the supplies necessary for our clients to be successful and profitable. Job Summary: The Bookkeeping Manager will perform duties predominantly in accounts payable and with lesser extent in accounts receivable. This person will work cooperatively with the company’s external accountant in addition to managing bank account balances, transfers, and account tracking. They will also help with the company transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite. Due to CalfCare being a small business, the Bookkeeping manager will assist in other departments as needed. Duties/Responsibilities:

    Review accounts payable invoices and prepare payments to be signed.

    Enter vendor information into accounting software system; verify that invoice information is entered correctly.

    Upload and run Positive Pay reports with financial institution.

    Prepares periodic inventory control reports. Assist the team as we work to redesign and implement new inventory controls and counts.

    Track & report A/R Summary for past due customers. Report past due clients to third party collection agency.

    Prepare monthly customer statements.

    Prepare annual 1099 & 1096 tax forms.

    File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

    Track, report, and process Sales/Use Tax to appropriate states.

    Be the primary report for our external accountant and gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual tax preparation company income taxation.

    Maintain fixed asset listing and correspond with outside accountant regarding assets.

    As appropriate, recommend and implement software updates to enhance the accounting software.

    Assist in answering phones, taking orders, & transferring calls when needed.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Has a basic understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.

    Has knowledge of general financial accounting.

    Is proficient in account reconciliation.

    Understands and adheres to generally accepted accounting practices.

    Has excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Is able to follow verbal and written instructions.

    Is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

    Has experience with accounting software, specifically NetSuite.

    Education and Experience:

    1. Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline & 2 years of experience in field.

    Or 2. Associate degree in Business, Economics, or related discipline with at least 2 semesters in Principles of Accounting or related courses & 2 years of experience in field

    Or

    1. 5 years or greater experience in the field.

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
