    Bookkeeping Specialist @ Freedom House

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The Bookkeeping Specialist is responsible for managing church finances and financial business processes. This includes processing weekly offerings and other forms of income, accounts payable, charge card approvals, check requests, petty cash, monthly budget reports, and QuickBooks data entry.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clear and evident

    High School Diploma

    Understanding of basic accounting principles

    Previous bookkeeping experience is required

    Must be able to handle confidential data appropriately

    Must have a strong attention to detail

    Strong organizational skills

    Excellent communication skills

    Ability to work in a fast paced environment

    TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

    Mastery of Quickbooks or other bookkeeping software used by FH

    Knowledge & experience with Excel

    Experience with Google sheets is a plus

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Process Sunday Offering and Coffee Shop Revenue

    Receive, count, and enter weekly tithes and offerings received via weekend services, mail, online, stock etc. This includes counting and balancing cash and checks.

    Receive, count, and enter weekly coffee shop revenue.

    Create bank deposit slips for any cash received.

    Adjust weekly internal dashboard based on offering and other revenues.

    Accounts Payable/Receivables and Charge Card Transactions

    Church

    Process monthly invoices in payables system for weekly approval of payments.

    Process and track receivables from events and leases.

    Process and sync weekly charge cards transactions.

    Learning Center

    Process monthly invoices in payables system for weekly approval of payments.

    Process and sync weekly charge cards transactions.

    Budget

    Assist with budget preparation, review, and input into software applications.

    Support all ministries when questions arise about their ministry relating to finance functions.

    Monthly reports:

    Reconcile bank account(s) and other platforms monthly to ensure accurate reporting.

    Produce and distribute reports to ministry leaders to assist them in making financial decisions within their departments.

    Produce and compile elder board financial overview report for the finance director to review and distribute.

    Audit

    Assist with annual audit requirements.

    Maintain and file all documents digitally required by auditors to maintain compliance including but not limited to:

    Leases

    Invoices

    Credit card statements

    Bank statements

    Deposit slips

    Human Resources

    Serve as the point person for onboarding and offboarding staff members.

    Oversee time off tracking and hourly tracking systems.

    Oversee yearly documentation such as housing allowances.

    Serve as a centralized hub for all background checks and compliance.

    Other Duties

    Maintain general ledger income statement.

    Balance accounts to ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly during posting and account review.

    Reconcile bank statements to general ledger accounts monthly.

    Reconcile other general ledger accounts to statements or invoices.

    Scanning historical documents and converting them to digital copies for digital records

    Support the Finance Director when special projects arise.
