Job Description
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent guest service, driving sales, and maintaining the bookstore’s operational standards. This part-time role reports to the Bookstore Director. This role requires weekend shifts and various weekdays, with extended hours during events and holidays. The position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests, assess their needs, and provide product recommendations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of products, including Bible translations, to help guests make informed purchases.
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization, ensuring shelves are well-stocked and visually appealing.
- Support receiving tasks, including labeling new merchandise for display.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process transactions, and ensure accurate sales.
- Complete end-of-day procedures, including equipment shut-down and daily accounting.
- Minimize guest wait times by efficiently processing sales and assisting customers.
- Support store operations during special events, holidays, and peak periods.
