DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & ALLOCATION

The Director of Planning and Allocation is responsible for category sales targets, markdowns, gross margin, turn and open to buy management, for both pre-season plans and in-season management for all our stores and our e-commerce business. They set the financial framework, strategy and targets that support Bootlegger’s merchandise strategies. The Director of Planning and Allocation reports to the General Merchandise Manager and supports five direct reports, and an additional three indirect reports.
As Bootlegger’s Director of Planning and Allocation you will be responsible for;
Maintaining and developing business planning and allocation strategies and initiatives that drive profitable results
Monitoring the business on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis; understanding changes in trend and reacting to the business to maximize sales and mitigate risk
Creating, managing, and forecasting the Open to Buy (OTB); continually evaluating sales and receipts to ensure targets are met
Ensuring in season forecast accuracy, based on market and sales trends for stores/e-commerce and overall banner sales and inventory
Refining and improving processes to ensure continuous improvement
Working with cross functional banners to develop best in class systems and work streams
Together with the GMM, developing topside financial plans, pre-season, and in season
Markdown optimization, managing sale, clearance and obsolete inventory by proactively recognizing future challenges and recommending exit markdown strategies, while forecasting and mitigating impact to margin
Creating and implementing a bottom up monthly and seasonal receipt flow and sales plan that aligns to topline financials in support of merchandising, brand objectives and business strategies
Managing weekly and monthly financial reporting and analysis delivering to key stakeholders
Demonstrating leadership and providing guidance to the planning and allocation teams to produce high-quality, accurate and timely accomplishment of business objectives
Transforming analysis of results into executable strategies and making recommendations that optimize investment, receipt flow and sell thru strategies
Collaborating with merchandising and other cross-functional teams to support strategic seasonal merchandise reviews
Partnering and driving an overall allocation strategy that supports the inventory merchandise strategy
In season planning and allocation to ensure right product/right place optimization
Leading the planning team to ensure optimal inventory to support store initiatives and buys
Provide recommendations of style counts, inventory, and align with merchant teams to continuously optimize the assortment
Working closely with the General Merchandise Manager (GMM) to support the merchandise strategy and execution plan
Partnering with Distribution Centre and Logistics Teams to optimize the flow of inventory through the Supply Chain
Supporting IT and PMO in the development, testing and releasing of enhancements that impact inventory management systems or processes
Driving cross-functional alignment around resources/reporting needed to bring product strategy to life
Coaching the planning and allocations team in their development, providing clear and actionable feedback for growth
Bootlegger is looking for an individual who is/has;
5+ years of planning experience; E-Commerce/Retail planning experience is considered an asset, prior management experience valued
Foundational understanding of allocation strategies, supply chain, inventory systems
Experience working with APTOS is considered an asset
Strong analytical skills supported by high level problem solving and decision making talents
Strong statistical/analytical skills, along with problem solving and decision making
Ability to quickly review and evaluate financial and business indicators and draw out observations and insights
Results driven orientation; anticipates business opportunities and risks, recommends alternative and contingency plans, and can effectively execute in a timely manner
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and effective in a variety of presentation settings
Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advanced MS Excel and modeling skills; Power BI experience is an asset
