  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **** (supporting info for “Make” “Source” “Deliver”, “Pre-production)

    ** Make**

    • Provide a master schedule to production by line and product
    • Daily communication with planners to avoid any supplier shortage
    • Work with aftersales for demands and relay needs to Production Scheduler.
    • Ensure the master schedule is loaded into SAP accurately and timely fashion, running the MPS so that supplier schedules can be distributed.
    • Track production performance to the master schedule
    • Responsible for maintaining finished goods inventory levels
    • Establish daily production plan in line with mutually accepted plan.

    ** Source**

    • Trouble shoot SAP issues as necessary
    • Communicate schedule updates with suppliers on a regular basis.
    • Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, to meet production levels.
    • Track Supplier delivery performance and follow up on past due suppliers.
    • Drive corrective action with all late suppliers.
    • Communicate information as required to within the company.
    • Work to drive root causes of inventory inaccuracy, with the goal of improving overall system reliability.
    • Manage part shortage report and report as necessary in production meeting.
    • Follow-up and expedite materials as needed to meet customer requirements
    • Reduce excess inventory to increase inventory turns.
    • Work with the logistics coordinator to reduce freight costs.
    • Planners are responsible for proposing process improvements and the generation or management of key reports and metrics.

    ** Deliver**

    • Responsible for monitoring the daily incoming EDI.
    • Daily communication with planners to avoid any supplier shortage
    • Minimize any premium freight impacts.
    • Set up customer scheduling agreements according to internal sales.
    • Work with shipping to ensure all customer requirements are met.
    • Set up expedites to the customer as required
    • Maintain all customer systems (Covisint, DDL, Smart, Supply Power)
    • Responsible for monitoring customer orders
    • Analyze customer releases for short term changes and long term forecast.
    • Responsible for the relationship with the customer material planner and prompt responses to all customer requests.

    Pre-production

    • Receive customer PO thru sales or customer integrated release engineer.
    • Analyze the customer deviation.
    • Define production planning for finished goods parts with program time line.
    • Responsible for the availability of the pre production parts to meet production
    • Responsible for accurate inventory of supplier pre production parts in house.
    • Establish lead time and communicate material delivery target date.
    • Responsible for fulfilling logistics checklist for each gate of the new program.
    • Interface with logistics department about packaging definition and lay out.
    • Interface with customer receiving areas as needed.
    • Establish cost effective shipment method for pre production parts.
    • Responsible for roll out of supplier expectations
    • Establish program ramp up plan that supports production for distribution
    • Travel to suppliers as needed.
    • Reporting of Logistics progress toward program milestones/gates
    • Ensuring proper hand off of part responsibility to Production Planners.
    • Liaison to external departments for pre production activities.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution (ex. CHEA)

    5 years’ experience in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Capacity Planning, Production Planning, Purchasing or similar discipline.

    Associate level Requirements

    • 0-1 year in Logistics management, Supply chain management, Capacity planning, Production planning, Purchasing or similar discipline.
    • MS Office familiarity

    Senior level Requirements

    • 5+ years in Logistics management, Supply chain management, Capacity planning, Production planning, Purchasing or similar discipline or 2+ years in Logistics management, Supply chain management and completion of formal PDT/JMP training.
    • SAP similar ERP system using inventory control methods (i.e. MRP) working knowledge of MS office
    • Demonstrated team lead or first-line supervision experience.
