We are seeking a seasoned executive to lead our engineering services and drive our firm to new heights.
Position Overview:
As the Branch Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our engineering team in our Birmingham headquarters, responsible for overseeing all engineering operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance, and mentoring our talented engineers. You will serve as the engineer of record for the firm, direct the flow of projects, and collaborate closely with the President/CEO on strategic planning and organizational development.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
Lead and manage the engineering divisions: Transportation (Aviation & Roadway) and Civil (Land Development & Infrastructure).
Develop and implement QA/QC processes and ensure the quality of all engineering outputs.
Act as the engineer of record, reviewing and stamping engineering documents.
Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Collaborate in developing strategic plans for the engineering department that align with the company’s long-term goals.
Evaluate and report to the President/CEO about team performance regularly and provide feedback and strategies for improvement.
Project Oversight
Direct the flow of projects, ensuring they meet contract and compliance requirements, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver successful projects.
Manage and build out teams for the Transportation and Civil engineering divisions.
Strategic Planning
Work with the President/CEO on developing the company's strategic plan, quarterly and annual budgets, and goals.
Participate in employee evaluations and help shape the firm's growth trajectory.
Operational Excellence
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess team performance and project success.
Drive innovation and efficiency within the engineering processes.
Regularly review QA/QC processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure all engineering outputs comply with industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations.
Regulatory Compliance and Industry Relations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring all engineering practices comply with necessary legal and ethical guidelines.
Represent the company in professional groups and forums, enhancing the company’s profile and staying informed of industry developments.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and external consultants to ensure all projects achieve legal compliance and receive necessary certifications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Alabama.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil and transportation engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record in managing and delivering complex engineering projects.
Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning abilities.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large-scale engineering projects and initiatives.
In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
Proven mentorship skills with an ability to educate and enhance team capabilities.
