    Title: Loan Processor

    Reports to: Loan Manager or SVP

    Purpose: Perform a variety of support duties related to the lending function within the credit union. Provide and process the information on credit union products and services to members in accordance with credit union policies and procedures and State and Federal rules and regulations. Answer routine questions from members on consumer loans and rates in a professional manner.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Mail or e-mail loan applications and/or information to members and prospective members.

    Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of the information. Ensure that all members feel welcomed to the credit union and are supported professionally in the process.

    Interview loan applicants in person or by phone and input loans into the system.

    Notify vendor to place security interest of credit union on the title document.

    Ensure that the documentation on titles is accurate and up-to-date to secure collateral.

    Answer questions for members, when needed, throughout the process. Explain the loan process to include loan options, insurance options on credit union loan products, loan policies, interest rates, payoffs, etc.

    Complete loan applications over the phone or electronically.

    Successfully and completely processed consumer loan and credit card applications, consumer loan funding, all forms of loan maintenance (Skip-A-Payments, due date changes, payment corrections, etc.), and all loan-related transactions (moving loans, loan payments, share/draft purchases, withdrawals or transfers, etc.).

    Provide administrative assistance to the loan-related staff, including updating loan data in the credit union’s computers, processing letters, and assembling documentation for member loans.

    Present application and supporting information to loan staff, when needed.

    Cross-sell credit union products and services.

    Accurately process loan payments over the phone or in person.

    Maintain a filing system and procedures to monitor that the required documentation is received and maintained appropriately and according to policies and procedures.

    Collate, review, and verify loan documents for accuracy.

    Check documents for proper signatures.

    Process new loan products and services in accordance with management direction.

    Any other duties assigned by the Loan Manager

    Requires the continuous exercise of judgment following broad guidelines. Identifies and selects complex choices of action where standard practices may not exist. Must be able to accommodate detailed work, problem-solving, reasoning, math, presentations, verbal communication, written communication, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

    EDUCATION

    High School diploma or equivalent is required. College degree or college courses in a related field highly preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    Minimum of two (2) years of consumer lending experience or equivalent desired. Minimum one (1) year or more customer service experience required.

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex information.

    Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Fully knowledgeable of and able to communicate with members about credit bureau reports and credit histories, risk-based lending scores, invoice and wholesale values of collateral, lien perfections, loan and deposit rates, credit union policies and procedures, and loan decisions.

    Superior verbal and written communication skills

    A passion for people and service, as well as a dedication to building relationships with members

    Ability to work with members and staff tactfully and professionally, both in person and on the phone

    Ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision

    Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
