    ** General Description**

    The Certified Peer Specialist will use aspects of their personal journey and skills learned in by the ACCS Recovery Director and completion of the Massachusetts Certified Peer Specialist Training and successful exam certification to support a peer relationship as an avenue to support self determination and decision making. The Certified Peer Specialist will promote recovery, remove barriers and connect people with recovery supports and encourage hope, optimism and healthy living. The Certified Peer Specialist will honor the CPS Code of Ethics. The Certified Peer Specialist will support people living in the community and in shared residences. The Certified Peer Specialist will support multiple pathways of person centered recovery understanding all persons are unique and capable of a life of their own choosing in a manner that fosters respect and dignity. The Certified Peer Specialist will support a diversified community and commit to learning knowledge about equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects for the persons we serve in our community and as employees working in a diverse workforce.

    ** Qualifications and Skills**

    • Complete Certified Peer Specialist Training (DMH funded) and pass exam within 12 months of hire.
    • Participate and complete all required trainings relevant to the CPS role as part of ongoing education and training.
    • GED/ HS Diploma. 3-5 years of Human Service background preferred.
    • Open to medication assisted treatment and harm reduction concepts and goals.
    • Proficient Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of Community Resources and support for links in the community.
    • Strong listening, oral and presentation (communication) skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community.
    • Ability to honor Certified Peer Specialist Code of Ethics, Brien Center policies and code of Conduct and confidentiality/HIPAA.
    • Knowledge of Spanish language, Cultural Competency and ASL considered an asset.
