FSG Field Tech Apprentice
Hands-On Experience: You will learn what functions are performed in each of BSI's specialized shops and receive unique hands-on training. You will also spend time with the Field Operations team to apply the skills learned in each of BSI's shops in support of live televised broadcast events. If/when future positions are available, those who've successfully completed the program will be eligible to apply. The Program: BSI Apprentice Training is a summer program designed to augment students educational experience with basic electronics training and hands-on work experience to develop relevant job skills in the following areas: Manufacture Shop: Learn how to terminate cables, solder equipment, and the basics of assembly and manufacturing. Introduction to schematics and drawings. Learn part numbering sequencing and file structures. Fiber Shop: Introduction to fiber optic theory and principles. Hands-on training on cleaning and servicing all major connector types. Terminating, polishing and testing of FC-APC and ST connectors. Camera Shop: Learn how to clean and maintain cameras. Learn the basics of inspecting/repairing broken cameras. Hands-on experience building BNC - MCX Cables. Communications Shop: Learn how to inspect and maintain radios, chargers and batteries. Learn the basics about camera control, data transmitters and receivers, antennas, filters, and talent packs and accessories. Microwave Shop: Learn how to sweep cables and upgrade firmware. Learn the basics about interchangeable systems, parts and settings. Learn the basics about spectrum analyzers, video formats and video resolutions. Logistics: Learn how to build flight and road cases. Learn the basics of equipment and cable preparation. Field Operations: Learn about RF Spectrum, RF Modulation, Encoding and Decoding and System Build and Integration. Work at live racing, golf and core plus events. Engineering: Learn the basics of system integration, receive an introduction to signal flow, an overview on wiring principles. Discuss BSI's overall design process and philosophies, and an overview of CAD.
