GENERAL SUMMARY:
A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. They will be able to enjoy all these benefits while living in a village designed specifically for their interests and needs. As part of the Purchase College community, Broadview residents will enjoy both formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community, ranging from classes and mentoring to providing employment opportunities for students. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the 4th quarter of 2023.

JOB SUMMARY:
The server is responsible for table service in the dining rooms.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Sets tables too and organizes dining areas to standard.
2. Takes orders, provides service and requested items both graciously and courteously.
3. Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service.
4. Describe menu items clearly and accurately to residents and their guests.
5. Answers questions about menu items concerning special diets and allergies.
Other Duties:
1. Maintains a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests.
2. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in work areas.
3. Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
4. Completes all assigned cleaning tasks and side work.
5. Follows daily opening and closing procedures.
6. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
7. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
2. Ability to learn and use our point-of-sale system to place orders.
3. Experience waiting tables in a hotel, restaurant or club with fine dining preferred; will train.
4. Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
5. Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires courtesy, tact and graciousness.
The salary opportunity for this position is $18.00-$20.00 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works indoors and outdoors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday; must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. independently; must be able to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday.
