JOB SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has emerged to engage and support a new long-life community in the field of fitness, strength, and longevity wellness. The Part-Time Fitness Instructor is responsible for helping members build, maintain, and prolong a robust healthy lifestyle through an integrated wellness and fitness program. The Longevity Fitness Instructor is responsible for strategy, development, operations, and evaluation of lifelong fitness and physical activities, maintaining the fitness rooms and equipment, assuring safety and cleanliness of all fitness facilities, and creating, promoting active resident participation in appropriate exercise and physical activities programs. The Longevity Fitness Instructor is responsible for teaching multiple mixed format classes daily, personal training, fitness assessments for members across abilities, and facilitating creative intergenerational wellness programming and advocacy for community health with the Department of Member Experience and Continued Education
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Organize and implement progressive and safe exercise programs for individuals and groups; plan physical activity events; instructs most individual and group exercise programs; and monitors results through an annual process.
2. Maintain resident files and assessments related to the fitness program and keep an active/current resident roster.
3. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate safeguards on participant health records.
4. Oversee operations of fitness and pool areas, maintains the fitness area including equipment service contracts, routine cleaning and equipment maintenance, daily records for environmental conditions and risk management of pools and exercise areas.
5. Perform initial assessments and orientation for residents to actively participate in fitness programs and activities, maintains necessary attendance/participation and progress reports.
6. Follow standards for participant and facility safety, fitness assessment and exercise prescription.
7. Order necessary supplies and works with laundry staff to ensure appropriate par levels for linens for the fitness and pool areas.
8. Prepare and maintain required reports, records, studies and surveys.
9. Work with other health-related staff at the community to provide a consistent message of health and to assist with resident transitions from one aspect of health services to another.
10. Follow established budget.
11. Provide health education programming to promote opportunities for enhanced personal wellness.
Other Duties:
1. Encourage residents to take an active part in various fitness and recreational programs.
2. Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
3. Properly use the community logo according to the Logo Usage Guidelines and consistently with community branding.
4. Maintain current Adult CPR (with practical skills component), AED, and First Aid certification. Lifeguard certification is a plus.
5. Accept responsibility for and maintains overall confidentiality.
6. Maintain current licensure/certification/health screening as required for the position.
7. Comply with expectations of mandatory/regulatory requirements.
8. Participate in professional growth and development activities and various continuing educations programs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in exercise science/exercise physiology OR licensed PT, PTA
2. Current ACSM Certification or current NCCA-accredited, health/fitness-related certifications (e.g., ACE, NCSF, NSCA, Cooper Institute)
3. Certification and experience in senior fitness, strength training, aqua fitness, fall prevention, dance, barre, yoga, Pilates, or mixed method fitness.
4.CPR/AED certification
$23.00 -$26.00 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of work day; must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in gerichairs and/or wheelchairs; good visual and hearing acuity required; may be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and bodily fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV; may be exposed to industrial and household chemicals and offensive odors.
