    POSITION: High School Musical Theatre Awards Adjudicator  DEPARTMENT: Education & Community Partnerships  REPORTS TO: Allison Bret, Director of Education & Community Partnerships  DIRECT REPORTS: None   TYPE: Independent Contractor  COMPENSATION: $50.00/assigned show; rate doubled if adjudicating 10 or more shows; mileage reimbursed at standard IRS rate  SCHEDULE: Night/Weekend Assignments Through April 2, 2023  DESIRED START DATE:  September 1, 2022  

    THE BROADWAY DALLAS HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS (HSMTA) aim to inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theatre, and to recognize the importance of musical theatre and arts education within the North Texas community. This regional program culminates at the Music Hall with an awards ceremony, modeled after the Tony Awards®, to recognize outstanding musical theatre productions, students, and educators and award $55,000 in scholarship funds to help students achieve their educational goals and professional dreams. In addition, the winners of the Outstanding Lead Performer award have the opportunity to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (Jimmy Awards) in New York City. HSMTA Adjudicators attend training and high school performances in and around North Texas to provide scored and written feedback. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:   

    • Attend High School Musical Theatre performances between September 2022-April 2023 
    • Provide detailed, thoughtful written critique based on a provided rubric after viewing these performances 
    • Provide measured, equitable, and thoughtful numerical scores to multiple production aspects 
    • Attend live final adjudication to select final Lead Performer Winners

      

    QUALIFICATIONS    

    • High school diploma or equivalent. 
    • At least two years of post-high school training/work experience in any aspect of theatre: technical, administration, performance, artistic, education, etc.

     

    REQUIREMENTS    

    • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to complete assigned tasks 
    • Demonstrated ability to craft quality, education-focused critique   
    • Access to a consistent method of transport to/from locations in/around Dallas County

     

    PREFERRED SKILLS:    

    • Demonstrated passion for live performance and familiarity with theatre 
    • Enthusiasm for work with young individuals
