We are a privately held, fast growing national insurance company that caters to the commercial trucking industry. We're looking to add a Renewal Underwriter and a New Business Underwriter to our team.

Brooklyn Specialty Insurance works directly with appointed retail producer agents across the U.S. to solicit commercial trucking business for consideration.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and analyze new client submissions to determine acceptability using established underwriting criteria.
• Perform proper risk selection and pricing using company guidelines.
• Maintains positive communication w/agents to solicit new submissions and handle potential problems as they arise.
• Explain and interprets underwriting guidelines to retail agents as needed.
• Coordinates w/other departments to achieve service and work flow objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Detailed orientated and willingness to learn underwriting techniques
• Energetic personality and ability to work independently w/minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret, research, and analyze client data to make an informed risk decision.
• Strong problem solving, reasoning and decision making skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage work flow to achieve timely turn around of agent requests.
• Computer savvy w/proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

Commercial trucking underwriting experience would be preferred, however, willing to consider general underwriting experience cross industry and or individuals who are willing to learn.
