    Position: Building Aide (Lower School, grades Kindergarten through 4th) - this position will start in the 2025/2026 school year

    Reports to: Lower School Principal

    Primary Responsibility:

    Supporting teachers and students in and out of the classroom that is effective, appropriate, and fitting with the mission of Traders Point Christian Schools.

    Position Goal:

    The goal of this position is to support Traders Point Christian School’s mission to challenge and educate students within the framework of a Biblical worldview while leading them to a personal faith and transformed life in Jesus Christ. We are Jesus-centered, relationally-driven, and educationally-anchored.

    Qualifications:

    Educational and Experience Requirements:

    • Candidates must be professing and maturing Christians enthusiastically supporting the School’s statement of faith and mission statements.
    • Prior experience working with children is preferred.
    • Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
    • The ideal candidate will excel at developing collaborative relationships with all constituencies.
    • Excellent communication skills are a must, including writing and presentation abilities.
    • In addition, the position requires the ability to organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met in a timely manner.

    Qualifying Characteristics:

    • The candidate has a clear biblical testimony of salvation with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education.
    • The ideal candidate must have the desire to work closely and nurture a positive relationship with students, teachers, parents, staff, school administrators, and community members.
    • The candidate must demonstrate respect for all students and community members.
    • The ability to exercise good judgment, set a good example, and comply with school standards is a must as well as the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues in a tactful and professional manner.
    • As a staff member at TPCS, you are expected to instruct and model important religious functions that include Bible instruction, prayer, participation in weekly chapels, and other religious duties.
    • You must be able to address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Supporting students in both whole group and small group settings.
    • Assisting with subjects, like math and reading.
    • Supervising and aiding with school drop off and pick up
    • Assisting with lunch duty and maintaining cleanliness throughout the cafeteria (cleaning tables and chairs, throwing away trash, etc.).
    • Organizing students as they enter the cafeteria for lunch (keep them in orderly lines, etc.).
    • Aiding with recess duties and ensuring that all students are safe.
    • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of positive behavior.
    • Alerts teachers to special learning problems and discipline issues.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
    • Must be able to lift 20 lbs
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, or kneel for extended periods of time

    Exempt Status : Non-exempt, Hourly

    Work Schedule: Academic Year
