    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Building Automation Systems Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, configuring, and programming software and hardware for DDC Building Automation Systems. Southland Industries is a signatory contractor of local union 420 and local union 9.

    What you’ll do:

    • Collaborates with the engineering team on the system configuration, network and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
    • Configures the graphics, database, network, and integrations.
    • Develops programming, graphics, and sequences of operations for DDC control systems.
    • Maintains accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines.
    • Records and communicates deviations to the project team.
    • Executes system functional testing and commissioning.
    • Executes system upgrades and BAS maintenance on exiting accounts
    • Provides owner training as required by the project.

    What you’ll need to be successful:

    • Niagara N4 certification and experience required
    • JCI, Honeywell, and/or Trane controller experience helpful but not required for consideration
    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
    • Thorough understanding of testing, validation and troubleshooting of large and complex controls systems.
    • Thorough understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and common controls sequences along with fundamental control theory and logic.
    • Excellent writing and computer skills with proficient knowledge of MSOffice applications.
    • Ability to creatively resolve engineering and installation conflicts.
    • Able to maintain diplomacy and professionalism while engaged in high pressure situations.
    • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
    • Thorough understanding of building automation and mechanical systems.
    • Ability to write programming for automation systems.
    • Understanding of I/T networks and networked systems.
    • Ability to integrate systems on different platforms.
    • Effective communicator.

    What you bring to the table:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Energy Engineering or other related field (or an equivalent amount of technical training and practical experience).
