    Job Description

    AECOM is currently seeking a Building Enclosure Commissioning Engineer for our Program and Project Management Team in Glen Allen, VA. In this role you will interface daily with both design and construction professionals as well as clients, general contractors, and facility managers. Position requires up to 25% travel for meetings, site visits, and test witnessing during construction phase activities of the building enclosure.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Possess understanding of building enclosure systems, construction processes, and building science.
    • Possess knowledge of the project’s building enclosure commissioning (BECx) requirements as defined in the Owner’s Project Requirements, project specifications and commissioning plan.
    • Assist in the development, coordination, and execution of the design phase, construction phase, testing/training phase, warranty phase activities, and final commissioning report
    • Ensure that projects are conducted within scope and deliverables are provided on schedule
    • Assist in performing independent design reviews of the building enclosure in the drawings and specifications
    • Attend and actively participate in periodic BECx meetings
    • Record and distribute BECx coordination meeting minutes
    • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals for building enclosure products and assemblies
    • Perform periodic site visits during the construction phase of the building enclosure
    • Witness on-site field testing of building envelope assemblies
    • Prepare a technical report for each site visit and test mobilization
    • Collaborates with AECOM's building facade consulting practice and related design and building science professionals.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BA/BS in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering or Architecture, + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
    • PE license
    • Experience in Technical Reading/Writing
    • Experience with Microsoft Office
    • Construction background

    Preferred Requirements

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, contractors and team members
    • Ability to identify, track and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process
    • Attention to detail in reviewing technical documents and performing site observations
