Job Summary:
Syrus Construction is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building equipment at our facilities. The Building Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various systems, including WSHP, boilers, chillers, energy management systems, fire life safety systems, and power distribution systems. Additionally, the Engineer will play a key role in maintaining mechanical areas, responding to alarms, and monitoring construction and special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and conduct daily visual safety inspections of building equipment.
- Keep a detailed engineers log of equipment incidents and status changes.
- Perform preventive maintenance and make necessary adjustments to equipment.
- Respond to alarms and assist in resolving incidents promptly.
- Place orders to support plant operations and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Operate building EMS systems and respond efficiently to alarms.
- Report faults, deficiencies, and anomalies to the Chief Engineer.
- Conduct minor mechanical repairs as needed.
- Assist in emergency situations like flooding and snow removal.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of building maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in mechanical plant operations, and boiler/chiller maintenance/operation.
- Relevant technical schooling can be substituted for one year of experience.
- Familiarity with building automation systems is a plus.
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Proficient in basic arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
