Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our family owned and operated Bus Business. As a bus Mechanic, you will be diagnosing and repairing issues with vehicles’ performance and function. The majority of our fleet are Ford diesel buses with 6.7 Ford and Cummings motors. You must have an in-depth understanding of all vehicle systems and components. You will also be responsible for maintaining repair shop equipment, keeping accurate records, and communicating with office.
The ideal candidate is skilled in communicating with customers, able to explain vehicle issues clearly and concisely and provide valuable advice. Salary depends on experience and capabilities and room for raises based on performance.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair vehicles coming into the shop
Carry out routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as 45 day inspections, oil changes, and brake pad replacements
Conduct in-depth vehicle inspections of all systems, including engine, transmission, and brakes
Create repair timelines and convey information to office for scheduling
Maintain accurate repair shop records and paperwork
Ensure a high level of safety
Create and maintain an inventory of stock parts.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is required
Associate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program is preferred
Automotive Service Excellence/ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers/SAE certification is preferred
Strong experience and communication skills are required
