The Role We Want You For
The Business Developer will lead and assist the bidding of construction projects by preparing conceptual and hard dollar estimates, proposals for new projects, as well as solicit subcontractor bids. This business developing position will have market ownership for Ventana’s design-build services including, but not limited to: identification and pursuit of new business opportunities; deepening the existing client relationships; cultivation of new clients; and facilitating the Ventana’s/client building partnership. This position works closely with marketing support staff, preconstruction, operations, and executive management to ensure total client satisfaction.
The Specifics of the Role
- Actively seeks, identifies, builds, and develops new client business relationships.
- Identify and evaluate new client and partner opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, attendance and participation with various industry and professional groups and networking associations.
- Work in conjunction with the bid team to prepare accurate bid proposals.
- Deliver compelling calls and presentations to introduce capabilities, and the Ventana brand.
- Assist with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner.
- Work with business unit leader and project executives to present capabilities and execute sales/demonstration process to win the business.
- Review of the project construction schedule and assist in preparation of the General Conditions.
- Participate with the preconstruction team in the review of the construction documents for value engineering and pricing.
- Solicit additional capable subcontractors in various markets.
- Solicit and develop relationships with MBE/DBE/WBE firms in target markets for strategic partnerships.
- Maintain and develop historical data for unit prices.
- Develop scopes of work for each trade to bid projects, and calls subcontractors to review scopes and verify if bidding.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of four (4) years of in the commercial construction industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex sales processes that involve multiple team members within single organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform mathematical calculations and possesses proficient data entry skills.
- Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Experience in attending pre-construction meetings.
- Ability to work well with all levels of management and company personnel.

Compensation
- The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The Nationwide salary range for this position is approximately $100,000 - $130,000 +/- annually (not adjusted for location).
