Our client is a leading Manufacturing Company and are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Business Development Manager (BDM) who is ready to take the initiative and expand the company’s opportunities. Manufacturing experience is essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing relationships with potential customers, maintaining proven customer relationships, and expanding the company’s market presence and sales. Self-assurance, and the confidence to purposely drive toward results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others is essential.
The focus of this job is on achieving results which are aligned with the larger vision of the organization and its strategic goals. The BDM will work closely with other department leads to create growth strategies, and drive the company's overall success. Initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job. Because external market conditions change rapidly, the work involves innovation and creativity in generating ideas for quick response.
While the job requires the ability to act independently, a sense of urgency and the confidence to handle a variety of challenges are expected in this position. The emphasis on building rapport and relationships with individuals and groups requires an outgoing, poised and persuasive communication style. Because the pace of the work is faster than average, the ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions is critical.
Reports to: General Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research & Strategy:
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, and products.
- Analyze competitors, market trends, and potential industry shifts to refine business strategies.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and sales forecasts for business growth in line with company objectives.
- Sales & Lead Generation:
- Identify potential customers and generate leads through various channels (cold calling, networking, referrals, online platforms, etc.).
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential customers and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain sales metrics with report out to management weekly.
- Drive prospects to convert leads into new customers
- Relationship Building:
- Maintain existing customer relationships to support retention and to foster new opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Meet regularly with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and strengthen relationships.
- Proposal Development & Negotiations:
- Prepare and deliver business proposals, presentations.
- Partner with management to negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that customer requirements are met and projects are executed smoothly.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities.
- Prepare regular reports on business development progress, opportunities, and results to senior management.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with the marketing agency to execute marketing campaigns that align with business development goals.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure the offerings meet customer needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 8+ years’ experience in business development, sales, or related fields within a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
- Experience with metal stamping, fabrication, and precision parts manufacturing preferred
- Strong understanding of market research, sales strategies, and business growth techniques
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain long-term business relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel (50%-70%) for meetings and conferences
- Knowledge of industry-specific trends and regulations is a plus
