Business Development Manager - Controls
Minneapolis, MN | Fully Remote | Direct Hire | $130k - $160k + Commission
Konik is partnering with a well-established controls integrator that is seeking to add an experienced business development manager to their team. In this role, you will utilize your extensive knowledge of industrial control systems to identify and secure new business in the form of control system integration services for large process clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically-minded sales person with a strong background in industrial controls.
Business Development Manager – Controls Responsibilities:
- Source leads from industry events, partnerships, reports, vendors, and internal teams.
- Build and maintain client relationships, focusing on increasing sales and fostering repeat business.
- Develop and deliver proposals on engineering services and integrated systems.
- Manage and track sales pipeline using CRM tools, coordinating team activities and follow-ups.
- Utilize technical expertise with leading control products (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson) to support client projects.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, business units, project management, and engineering teams.
- Assist engineers and project managers in proposal development, project tasks, and addressing client issues.
- Monitor industry trends to inform regional sales plans and forecasts.
- Review commercial terms with management, ensuring resource coordination with operations.
- Oversee customer orders and transition contracts to operations, ensuring alignment on client expectations for quality, timing, and budget.
- Collaborate with local operation managers on business plans, personnel needs, and budget oversight.
Business Development Manager - Controls Requirements:
- Bachelors in Engineering discipline is preferred, but not required
- 6+ years of experience in industrial controls industry
- 3+ years of engineering experience; 3+ years of sales or business development experience
- Experience in Life Sciences, Specialty Chemicals, Pulp & Paper, and Power/Water Utilities is beneficial
- Excellent technical communication ability
- Able to travel up to 50% to client shows, trade shows, etc.
- This is a remote role, but candidates should reside in Minnesota, Iowa, or Wisconsin and within an easy drive of a major airport
