Our mission is to push the boundaries of optical technology to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients. As we grow, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Program Manager with a technical background to join our team.

The Business Development Program Manager will play a crucial role in driving the growth of our startup by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and managing key client relationships. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, relationship management, and hands-on program execution to help scale our business. You’ll be working directly with our engineers, manufacturers, and customers.

    Key Responsibilities:

Business Development Strategy: Develop and implement business development strategies to identify and pursue new markets, customer segments, and partnership opportunities.

Partnerships and Alliances: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry partners.

Client Relationship Management: As the key customer contact, build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.

Account Growth and Expansion: Identify opportunities to expand business with existing customers by deepening relationships, upselling additional products or services, and addressing evolving customer needs.

Proposal and Presentation Development: Create compelling proposals and presentations that showcase our services, capabilities, and value propositions to potential clients and partners.

Program Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key business development programs, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic goals.

Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape, providing insights that inform business strategies.

Sales Support: Collaborate with the leadership team and administrative staff to support lead generation, proposal development, and contract negotiations.

Reporting and Analytics: Monitor and report on the performance of business development initiatives, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.

    Qualifications:

Experience: Ideally 5+ years of experience in a business development and/or technical program management role.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; an Engineering degree with business management experience is strongly preferred.

Technical Expertise: A deeply technical background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Business Acumen: Strong business management experience, with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to drive revenue growth.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand customer needs, present solutions, and set realistic goals for the team.

Customer-Focused: Ability to match customer needs with appropriate solutions and maintain strong client relationships.

Attitude and Drive: Persistent, with a positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to the growth of the business. Strong persuasion skills, work-ethic, integrity and entrepreneurial mindset.

Technical Aptitude: Strong technical aptitude and a desire to continuously learn about our products, services, and the broader market landscape. Cameras and optics knowledge is a definite plus.

Tools Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Workspace applications and Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Slack and email for daily operations and client communication.

Work Authorization: Candidates must have existing authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Travel Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel internationally as needed to meet with clients, attend conferences, or support business development activities.

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, comfortable operating in less defined roles, and adaptable to changing priorities.

Entrepreneurial Spirit: A passion for working in a growing, innovative company, with the drive to take on new challenges and contribute to key revenue-driving initiatives.

    Preferred:

Camera and Optical System Knowledge: Technical understanding of CMOS and infrared cameras, optical lenses, CMI manufacturing processes and equipment would be a significant advantage.

Sales and Technical Blend: A unique mix of sales talent, technical capabilities, and business management skills, with an entrepreneurial enthusiasm to take ownership of projects and goals.

Flexibility: Comfort in managing less defined activities and the ability to pivot priorities as the business evolves.

Location: Preference for candidates based in the Bay Area, CA. At this time, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
