Business Development Representative - Dry Van Logistics
****** Commission Eligible Position**
POSITION PURPOSE
To develop relationships with customers and solicit freight orders from a designated and assigned base of SOAR customers by fax, phone, e-mail, web-based platforms, and electronic data interchange and once received, enter the freight orders into McLeod TMS.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
To prospect daily for new freight opportunities from customers.
Consistently and continually solicit committed and non-committed freight orders from a designated and assigned customer base via a multitude of communication exchanges daily, commensurate with company and business level needs.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to allow for the greatest opportunities in generating the highest level of order volumes.
Aggressively accept, pre-accept, and enter all freight orders into McLeod.
Work with manager of business development to maximize the amount of freight orders to accept.
Work closely with the carrier sales team to ensure all freight is being properly covered and on time service metrics are being achieved.
Keep customers informed of the status of deliveries, including in some cases updating of the customer web sites or EDI exchanges.
Make a minimum number of outbound calls daily along with minimum number of weekly conference calls (these goals to be determined on individual basis, depending on experience) to maintain set revenue goals.
Create a cold call strategy to solicit new customers and set up visits with Director or VP to secure revenues and new business.
Strategically find locations within driving distance of Chattanooga and focus efforts of building prospecting pipeline. Director level can assist with direction.
When onboarding new business, work with account managers and carrier sales team to ensure a smooth transition.
Work with new customers and customer service representatives so that the accounts can smoothly be transitioned over to customer service.
Communicate with customer service personnel and management to advise them on any feedback provided by the customer relative to our service or changes in their business levels with SOAR Transportation.
Ability to travel to visit customers to maintain a good working relationship with the customers.
Other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
