Position Overview:
The Business Development and Sales Representative (BDSR) is responsible for driving company growth through outbound prospecting, lead qualification, and relationship development. This role will focus heavily on initiating contact with potential clients—primarily accounting firms and adjacent industries—through cold calls, emails, and social engagement.
As the company’s first dedicated sales professional, you’ll have the freedom to shape the sales process, create tracking systems, and help define how we generate and close business. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional discipline, and deep familiarity with how to connect and sell to accounting and financial services decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Research and identify high-potential prospects across accounting and financial services sectors.
- Generate outbound outreach via cold calling, email campaigns, and social media engagement (e.g., LinkedIn).
- Establish and nurture relationships with decision-makers at accounting firms and related organizations.
Lead Qualification & Pipeline Building
- Qualify prospects by understanding their needs, timing, budget, and readiness to engage.
- Build and maintain a lead database, tracking engagement and progress using a CRM or similar tool.
- Collaborate with company leadership to refine ideal client profiles and messaging.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Establish processes to track lead generation, engagement, and conversion metrics.
- Report regularly on outreach progress, pipeline status, and performance against targets.
- Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly lead generation and qualification goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional B2B sales experience , with a proven track record of success.
- Experience selling to CPA firms and adjacent verticals with contacts already in these firms.
- Established relationships and sales experience within accounting firms or financial services industries is required.
- Experience building or working within a new or early-stage sales environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own time, and build structure from the ground up.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, email marketing platforms, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and standard office software.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and persuasion skills.
- Strong research and discovery skills to identify and engage qualified leads.
- A “hunter” mindset with the ability to open doors and create opportunities.
- Highly organized and self-disciplined, able to work without close supervision.
- Ability to build scalable sales processes and define KPIs from scratch.
- Comfortable tracking and analyzing metrics to drive improvement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- The position may be remote or hybrid depending on location.
- Must have a quiet, dedicated home workspace and a reliable internet connection.
- Able to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, conferences, or company events.
- Must be available during standard business hours and responsive across digital communication platforms.
