    Full-Time Business Office Float

    Position Summary

    Physician’s Surgery Center of Knoxville is seeking a flexible and dedicated Business Office Float to support various administrative functions across our multispecialty surgery center. This role is essential in maintaining efficient operations, as it provides versatile support to multiple business office departments, including billing, scheduling, patient registration, and medical records. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, highly organized, and have a commitment to excellent patient service and office support.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Patient Registration and Check-In * Greet and assist patients and families, ensuring a smooth and welcoming check-in process. * Verify patient information, insurance details, and obtain necessary signatures for consent forms and financial agreements. * Collect and process co-pays or other payments as required, providing receipts and updating financial records accurately.
    2. Scheduling and Appointment Coordination * Support the scheduling team by coordinating appointments, rescheduling procedures as needed, and confirming upcoming appointments with patients. * Work closely with clinical teams to ensure patient flow and schedule efficiency.
    3. Billing and Insurance Verification * Assist with insurance verification processes, ensuring patients’ coverage and benefits are confirmed and accurately recorded. * Collaborate with the billing department to resolve patient billing inquiries and provide statements as requested. * Assist with patient account follow-up, helping address outstanding balances, insurance denials, or billing discrepancies.
    4. Medical Records Management * Handle patient records according to HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. * Retrieve, organize, and update medical records for patient appointments, pre-surgery review, or audits. * Support release of information requests, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and accurate documentation.
    5. General Administrative Support * Provide backup support for reception, phone management, and other front-office tasks as required. * Assist with filing, data entry, and maintaining organized office spaces for optimal workflow. * Actively participate in team meetings, suggesting process improvements to enhance the efficiency of business office operations.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical office administration is a plus.
    • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical office, healthcare facility, or surgery center setting preferred.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with EHR/EMR and practice management systems.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered service.
