    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Buyer, Domestic Honey & Ingredients provides cross-functional support for both Nate’s and Sweet Harvest Foods business units. As a key member of the Procurement team, the Buyer is tasked with assisting in the development of buying strategies, managing the domestic honey position, and providing internal support and leadership as the subject matter expert. The Buyer will work extensively with various suppliers including a network of farming operations to secure high quality raw materials at competitive rates. In addition, the Buyer will be a partner to our internal teams, routinely traveling to our sites in both Lakeville and Cannon Falls. This role will be responsible for developing buying strategies and securing supply for other natural sweeteners and ingredients as needed to support our product lines. This individual will utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the evaluation of the position for each of the materials within their assigned portfolio. Effective negotiation skills, ability to communicate in various settings, and comfort with multitasking are also components to being successful in this position.

    **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    **

    • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers
    • Recommend buying strategies and negotiate with suppliers
    • Utilize Sage and Excel to analyze raw material positions by regularly evaluating inventory, inbound supply, and plant demand
    • Analyze and develop reports from import/export statistics used to support procurement and company sourcing strategies
    • Collaborate with the Quality team on a consistent basis to ensure honey supply meets our strict quality standards
    • Collaborate with the Operations team regularly to assist with blending and inventory management
    • Encourage and maintain a strong food safety culture
    • Assist in the maintenance of supplier approval documents
    • Partner with the Logistics team to coordinate inbound raw materials
    • Partner with the Innovation team on new product development
    • Support cross-functional activities as the subject matter expert
    • Travel as needed to support company activities, which likely includes industry, customer, and supplier meetings
    • Monitor and report on supplier performance, recommending changes as needed
    • Create and maintain purchase orders in Sage
    • Other duties as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
    • 3+ years of experience in a supply chain or purchasing related role required; experience in the food and/or agricultural industry a plus
    • Experience with ERP software preferred; experience with Sage a plus
    • Strong Excel skills required
    • Analytically minded with strong communication and problem-solving skills; negotiation skills a plus
    • Able to identify trends and market changes
    • Able to travel domestically with occasional overnight travel (20-30%)
    • Able to routinely travel locally within the Twin Cities to company warehouse and production facilities
