    Summary/Objective:

    The Buyer will perform duties associated with the purchase of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) and non-MRO materials. This position will also support inventory management, shipping, and receiving on an as-needed basis. The critical attributes and skills required for this position include problem solving skills, ability to meet schedules and priorities, attention to detail, initiative, working well within a team, and ability to work well and foster positive relationships with suppliers to ensure that suppliers meet their commitments. The Buyer will be responsible for ensuring compliance and accuracy of purchase orders, escalation of issues, and managing communications with suppliers. The position will work with a cross-functional team.

    • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures in compliance with our Quality System requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, and FDA regulations including compliance with EN ISO 13485, Medical Device Quality Standards.
    • Ensure that all regulatory and internal policies are followed.
    • Make decisions in a timely manner, based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
    • Ability to establish, build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, suppliers, and the public.

    • Special projects will require extended work hours and some travel may be required.
    • Coordinate and oversee material, supplies and equipment procurement.
    • Effectively communicate requirements and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure value, and structure agreements for volume orders, blanket orders and scheduled releases.
    • Ability to work closely with Receiving Inspection and Quality to ensure that materials are received and placed into inventory in a timely manner, including processing RMAs.
    • Comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies and procedures (DOPs), objectives, the quality assurance program, as well as safety and environmental standards.
    • Prepare and provide updates on key performance supply chain and logistics metrics.
    • Prepare and present supplier scorecards and updates, cost trends and material costing reports.
    • Read and interpret manufacturing procedures, engineering drawings, and inspection procedures.

    Required Education and Experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of Logistics and Procurement.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to create improvements or new approaches that can be turned into realistic plans and real results.
    • Self-starter, and results-oriented team player.
    • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and FDA regulations; deliver on commitments and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work on a computer with various programs to transact product within the production system or to generate memos, spreadsheets or documentation as needed.
    • Work well within a team by establishing and maintaining productive relationships with fellow employees, suppliers and customers.
    • Ability to read and communicate in English verbally and in writing and ability to demonstrate active listening.
    • Proven data comprehension skills to read and interpret detail reports.
    • Working knowledge of operations and supply chain management.
    • Skilled in computer use including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word applications.

    Minimum Certifications/Educational Level:

    • High School Diploma required, BS / BA in related field preferred.

    Minimum Experience:

    • 3+ years of experience in relevant Operations and/or Supply Chain functions.

    Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment

    • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office
      equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, and scanners.

    • Personal Protective Equipment may be required for laboratory or field work.

    Physical Demands

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
    • Wears personal protective equipment as required.
    • This position is based out of Irvine, California. This position requires up to five (5%) percent travel.

    Salary Range

    $70,000 - $95,000
