    Job Description

    W.F. Baird & Associates “Baird” is seeking a motivated and personable student pursuing an associate’s degree in civil technology, architectural technology or related program to join our team as a CAD Drafting Technician Intern for Summer 2025. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technical professionals, gaining hands-on experience in preparing civil engineering drawings, gathering data, and presenting information visually. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to apply your skills in a real-world setting while learning from experienced professionals.

    _ Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:_

    Working under the supervision of a CAD professional, you will support all Baird global offices by:

    • Transforming initial rough designs/sketches and redlines/mark-ups into finished graphics/construction documents
    • Drafting detail drawings of marinas, wharfs, bulkhead walls, piers, bridges, ferry terminals, hydraulic structures, structures (steel, concrete, timber & masonry) and shoreline construction (beaches, nourishment, revetments, breakwaters)
    • Reviewing engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established CAD standards
    • Interacting and coordinating with all stakeholders (engineers, sampling group, construction, clients, subcontractors, government agencies, etc.)

    _ Desired Experience:_

    Currently working towards an associate’s degree in civil technology, architectural engineering technology or related program.

    Experience with, understanding of, or interest in the following software:

    • Autodesk Suite of Products (AutoCAD, Map, Civil 3d, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, Recap, Bim 360)
    • MicroStation/OpenRoads
    • Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel capabilities

    Other desirable software experience, understanding of, or interest in:

    • QGIS/ArcGIS
    • 3ds Max
    • Bluebeam
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Rhino
