    CapRock Health is seeking a professional, organized, and motivated CT/Radiology technologist to join our radiology team.This position is a PRN position on the weekends.

    Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (X-Rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist. Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devise to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Moves equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance base on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devise, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Performs Computed Tomography (CT) scans of the human body in accordance with established protocol as requested by physician. Operates mobile X-Ray equipment at patient's bedside. Assists clinical team with clinical care, as trained.

    ** Reporting Structure:** Reports to Radiology Manager(s), who holds the employee responsible for the achievement of desired goals and objectives.

    ** Education Qualifications and Credentials:**

    Work requires successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program and

    American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry. Two years’ experience as a Computed Tomography Technologist is required. Two years’ experience as a Radiology Technologist is required.

    Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree from accredited school required.

    Texas Medical Board licensure for radiology technologist required.

    Experience working in an Emergency Department is preferred.

    ** Essential Job Functions:**

    The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.

    1. Models professionalism and customer service to patients, family, community, staff and physicians consistent with the Mission and Values of CapRock Health System.

    2. Performs diagnostic imaging studies (Computed Tomography and X-Ray) under the direction/supervision of a licensed independent practitioner.

    3. Prepares and submits quality images for radiology reads and interpretations. Monitors and manages the timeliness of the receipt of radiology reads/results and posts to medical record following report review/acknowledgement by the ordering physician.

    4. Reports abnormal exams to the health care provider(s) as soon as possible and without delay.

    5. Anticipates patient needs and physician orders, based on the patient’s chief complaint and presenting signs and symptoms.

    6. Applies assessment skills to recognize critical care needs. Acts with a sense of urgency, when appropriate.

    7. Ensures that all equipment is in proper working order and reports defects and/or deficiencies to their supervisor. Troubleshoots errors and malfunctioning of equipment. Effectively communicate with teammates and physicians to ensure timeliness of procedures, exams, radiology reads, equipment, error readings, etc.

    8. Promotes safety initiatives and follows safety requirements by adhering to safety policies, regulatory standards, infection control policies/guidelines, and radiation safety. Examples; fall prevention, proper us of equipment, proper shielding and utilization of two patient identifiers before any procedure, treatment, exam. Applies proper technique and safe practice while performing diagnostic testing using radiology equipment guidelines.

    9. Accurately and timely documents imaging procedures in the medical record.

    10. Maintains and updates Radiology Department procedure log as required.

    11. Records other data and QA test results as required.

    12. Assist ultrasound tech to perform procedures according to the established departmental policies, workflows, regulations, ensuring compliance in all facets to include safety and infection control.

    13. Maintains competency and assists clinical care team with the following as needed/requested;

    a. laboratory testing: Performs duties as assigned for venous blood draws for blood and body fluid samples. Performs laboratory point of care testing and send out labs as ordered by the on-duty physician.

    b. Reports abnormal lab testing to the health care provider as soon as possible and without delay.

    c. Posts such completed lab results to the chart.

    d. Performs daily/monthly QC's to ensure proper performance and compliance in the laboratory.

    e. Must fulfill requirement of annual laboratory proficiency testing.

    f. Reports any diversion from normal lab operations or incidents to the Nurse Director and Laboratory Manager, i.e., exposures, incidents, spills, injuries, etc.

    g. Obtains vital signs

    h. Initiates IV start. May not administer medications, other than contrast.

    i. Documents procedures and tasks, as applicable.

    14. Assists with the cleaning of the facility and radiology department to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.

    15. Assists with front office registration duties, as needed, to include; general filing, data entry, entering patient demographic data, HIPAA documentation, verification of insurance eligibility.

    16. Complies with all applicable state and federal requirements regarding radiation, applicable standards of care, and applicable accreditation bodies.

    17. Maintains confidentiality of patient and company related issues. Ensures compliance with HIPAA rule and standards as applicable to patient medical records, patient care, and diagnostic testing to include but not limited to patient medical records, radiology reads/results and other protected health information (PHI).

    18. Reports any violations of policies and procedure, including any incidents of over exposure, patient safety, radiation safety to the Radiation Safety Officer and Administrator.

    19. Works in cooperation with other administrative and facility staff to ensure overall departmental compliance both directly and indirectly related to quality assurance; risk management and life safety are applied to patient care and employee safety.

    ** Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:**

    · Possess thorough knowledge of radiologic procedures used in patient treatments, a thorough knowledge of safety and proper usages of all mechanical and electrical equipment used in radiology and knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and physics as applied to diagnostic imaging of the human body.

    · Possess strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize responsibilities based on critical thinking skills. Self-motivated and able to problem solve and follow through to achieve high quality outcomes.

    · Communicate effectively, both orally and written.

    · Work with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

    · Can adapt to changing environments, be innovative, and be dependable.
