CMM Technician/Programmer
An experienced CMM Technician/Programmer is needed to join a precision manufacturing team, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. This role involves developing, maintaining, and generating CMM programs, along with performing detailed inspections on production assemblies, incoming parts, tooling, and engineering prototypes. The ideal candidate will ensure that the Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) provides accurate output and will also handle basic machine maintenance and upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections on engineering projects, tooling, and production parts using CMM equipment.
Perform additional inspection tasks as required within the Quality Department.
Oversee the daily upkeep and maintenance of CMM equipment, ensuring it remains calibrated and operational.
Report inspection results to the relevant departments and address any discrepancies.
Develop and maintain CMM programs to verify production assemblies, incoming parts, tooling, and prototypes.
Review technical specifications to establish accurate inspection criteria.
Complete First Article inspections, documenting all required measurements and maintaining organized records.
Communicate any out-of-spec measurements to relevant team members in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, ensuring changes from engineering are reflected in inspection processes.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior experience in a quality metrology lab or a regulated manufacturing environment is essential.
Practical knowledge of CMM programming, with a preference for experience using CMM Manager software.
Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) applications.
Ability to read and interpret both 2D and 3D technical drawings.
Familiarity with machining processes and shop practices.
Proficiency with a range of measurement tools, including calipers, depth gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, and optical comparators.
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate inspection results effectively and maintain accurate documentation.
Preferred Skills:
GD&T training and fixturing experience.
Hands-on experience with various inspection devices and equipment.
Proven ability to perform detailed inspections and create thorough documentation.
