Description: This position provides custodial and personal care to clients that contract with Assisting Hands for services in compliance with the Plan of Care designated by the RN. PCAs may also perform companion or sitter tasks for clients.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required;
Training/Experience: CNAs are required to have one of the following training and/or experience:
Current Nursing Assistant Certification with Georgia Board of Nursing in good standing; or
Successful completion of a competency examination for nurse aides
Qualifications: One (1) year experience in the home or long-term care setting is preferred.
Reports to: Nursing Supervisor; Staffing Coordinator
Primary Duties:
CNAs may provide personal care, companion and sitter services to individuals needing direct care. These services can also be provided to medically frail or medically compromised clients. Types of services include, limited or full assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, dental care, dressing and eating. Services may also include but are not limited to proper nutrition, home management, housekeeping tasks, ambulation and transfers. Types of services include:
Meal preparation (no special diet)
Light housekeeping
Transport and escort services
Errand services
Accompaniment to social activities or appointments of a non-medical nature
Companionship
Additional Duties:
The performance of all personal care activities contained in a written Plan of Care detailed by the agency’s Nursing Supervisor which may include assisting the client with personal hygiene, ambulation and exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfer, and other duties as assigned.
Reporting changes in the client’s condition.
Abides by the agency’s infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques consistent with CDC Guidelines.
Abides by all policies and procedures outlined in the agency’s Policy and Procedure Manual, Caregiver Handbook, and Caregiver Training Manual.
Hours: Dependent on assignment; Shifts available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and based on availability
