Job Summary
Lead CNC Live – Tooling Lathe Machinist/Programmer who can demonstrate proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating Mori Seiki live-tooling lathes and Miyano multi-spindle / multi-turret lathes. This is not a starting position and we are looking for an innovative candidate that understands time sensitive projects and exudes natural leadership skills.
Job Duties
Essential Functions
- Developing CNC lathe programs using MasterCam for new parts on three, four, and five axis machines (lathe setup plan of CNC.)
- Lead other operators within the area. This candidate's experience should include Mori Seiki Live-Tooling Lathes, Miyano Lathes, and Fanuc Control.
- Responsible for the efficient setup and production run on several CNC lathes, while maintaining high quality parts from first article inspection through final part inspection.
- Use and read of precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc)
- Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
- Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board pattern films, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
- Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency
- Determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
- Preform preventative maintenance or minor repairs on machines
- Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
- Transfer of details and important instructions are essential
- Consistent communication with peers in department and management
- Maintain knowledge on how to properly operate CNC machines and programs
- Follow established processes and quality and safety standards
- Ability to preform multiple tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously while performing various other duties as assigned

Job Specifications
- High school diploma or GED required, preferred vocational school or and apprenticeship or certification
- 5+ years' experience as a tool & die maker or machinist capacity
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
- Must have a positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Knowledge of metal properties and other material
- Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities
- Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teambuilding skills
- Self-motivated, punctual and regular attendance
- Available to work weekends and overtime
