Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in COBOL development and database migrations.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database architecture, SQL scripting, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of COBOL data structures, REDEFINES, and file handling mechanisms.
- Proficiency in SQL conversion from COBOL-embedded SQL to PostgreSQL.
- Experience using database migration tools and COBOL modernization frameworks.
- Knowledge of data integrity principles and relational database normalization.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and technical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to clear a federal background investigation - Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Must be a US Citizen or have a Green Card.
- Workdays: Monday-Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in government or federal healthcare projects.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL JSON data types for handling complex structures.
- Knowledge of middleware tools for facilitating COBOL to PostgreSQL integration.
- Prior experience in performance optimization of legacy application migrations.
