Performs non-routine assignments in support of engineering functions in the areas of design, development, research and testing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using operational precedents, which are not fully applicable. May also plan such assignments.
- Develops or reviews designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data.
- Applies conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists.
- Conducts tests or experiments requiring working with a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures.
- Sets up and operate equipment, records data, measures and records problems, and analyzes data and prepares test reports.
- Applies methods outlined by others to segments of R&D projects, constructs experimental or prototype models, conducts test or experiments and redesigns as necessary, and records and evaluates data and reports findings.
- May frequently assist professionals and others in the establishment.
- Install, terminates, and tests CAT5E, CAT6A, and Fiber infrastructure cabling
- Installs equipment and cabling in standardized equipment racks
- Performs troubleshooting of information systems, audio visual equipment, networking equipment, and infrastructure

Required Skills
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 years related experience, preferably 1 year of that experience within directly applicable industry
- Must be able to work from schematics, diagrams, written/verbal descriptions or from defined plan
- Current Secret Security clearance required; U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to work flexible hours to support test events
- Must be able to obtain Security+ within 90 days of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years electronics training from a technical trade school or military technical school preferred
- Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs preferred
- Current CompTIA Security+ Certification highly desired
- Current AMX, Extron, or Operating System certifications desired
- Experience installing structured cabling in accordance with industry standards and best practices
- Experience troubleshooting and tracing structured cabling
