    OVERVIEW OF POSITION

    The Community Engagement and Policy Intern (Intern) is a summer internship position based in Massachusetts. In this role, you would be part of a diverse program implementation team. You will report to the Community Engagement and Policy Manager and collaborate closely with other program managers at Emerald Cities. You’ll join the team at an exciting time as we work toward further developing our regional strategy for enhancing our civic engagement and economic inclusion work. The role will be a great mix of high-level strategic thinking, local policy research, and a focus on equitable implementation.

    Location: Boston, MA (Telework)

    Job Type: Internship, seasonal

    Hourly Wage: $18-20 depending on experience

    Commitment: Part-time, up to 29 hours per week

    Dates: May 19, 2025 to August 29, 2025

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Local, State, and Federal Policy Research and Analysis.

    · Conduct in-depth research on local, state, and federal climate policies, programs, and legislation.

    · Analyze the impact of proposed climate policies and programs on various stakeholders.

    · Prepare concise policy briefs and memos to inform internal teams and external partners about key developments.

    Partner and Stakeholder Engagement.

    · Assist the ECC team in engaging with local, state, and federal partners and stakeholders to identify resources and opportunities for collaboration.

    · Help organize and participate in meetings and calls with key stakeholders, ensuring follow-up actions and documentation.

    · Track stakeholder interests and concerns to inform policy recommendations and engagement strategies.

    · Support outreach efforts to expand ECC's network of collaborators in climate policy, community organizations, and governmental entities. · Organize and disseminate updates to local stakeholders through the ECC Northeast newsletter and other engagement strategies.

    Public Comment and Policy Advocacy.

    · Support the drafting, editing, and submission of public comments on Massachusetts climate programs and policies.

    · Track timelines for public comment periods and ensure timely submission of comments and testimony.

    Project Implementation and Management Support.

    · Support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and events related to project activities.

    · Assist in tracking project progress and deliverables, maintaining project documentation and reporting.

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

    · Undergraduate Junior/Senior, recent graduate, or current graduate student studying environmental studies urban planning, public policy, sustainability, community development, communications, nonprofit management, business, or related field.

    · Skilled in communications/marketing to diverse communities and stakeholders.

    · Experience using Google and/or Microsoft Suite applications.

    · Proficiency at or desire to learn Salesforce CRM.

    · Excellent writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills.

    · Strategic and task oriented.

    · Ability to multitask, be organized, and flexible.

    · Strong commitment to advancing racial, gender and social equity.

    · Access to reliable internet.

    · Able to occasionally travel around and within Greater Boston.

    · Preferably residing in or near Boston, MA.
