TITLE: Special Education Teacher
FLSA STATUS : Full Time/ 10 Month Employee

Qualifications
1. Minimum B.A/B. S degree in teaching and or, Master of Education from an accredited institution in
the appropriate special education area.
2. Current Michigan Teaching Certificate with either an Elementary or Secondary Special Education
Certification required
3. Five (5) years of Special Education Classroom experience, preferred
4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Special Education Regulations and Compliance
Practices; as well as Knowledge of IDEA and MARSE, preferred.
5. Ability to work in a multicultural setting and at-risk student populations.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment,
reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or
up to adult size body weight with two-to-three-person lift). Position can require some degree of
physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
