    Job Description

    We are recruiting for a driven, adaptable Analyst or Associate to join the Strategic Credit group in the Credit Investments (CI) department in New York with a particular focus on Special Situations Credit. The Strategic Credit group invests in corporate debt of non-investment grade sponsored and non-sponsored issuers in North America. The group focuses on liquid and illiquid debt across the capital structure in the primary and secondary markets, including first lien loans, second lien loans, unitranche loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, bridges, mezzanine debt and preferred equity.

    The Analyst / Associate will work on Special Situations Credit including but not limited to investments in highly structured solution-based financings, ‘stressed’ investments via the primary and secondary bond and loan markets, deep value credit and CI’s existing portfolio. The Analyst / Associate will work in a small team evaluating investment opportunities, conducting research, developing recommendations, presenting to investment committees, participating in the negotiation and execution of investments and managing investments. The team has an affable and supportive culture and is looking for someone who will grow with the group over time.

    Strategic Credit currently manages assets in excess of $10 billion, with individual investment size range targets from $100 million to over $1 billion.

    ROLE-SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Research, analyze and evaluate credit investment opportunities across the capital structure
    • Assist in the execution of the full investment process, including review and negotiation of key deal terms and legal documentation
    • Build financial models (including debt recovery waterfalls) to assist in investment evaluation, structuring and financing
    • Prepare and present investment recommendations to Investment Committees
    • Collaborate and manage relationships with various counterparties both internally and externally (investment banks, advisors, private equity sponsors, lawyers, other lenders, etc.)
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 1 – 4 years of credit fund or investment banking preferable within credit (Leverage Finance or Restructuring)
    • Strong research, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills
    • Solid, demonstrated oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in conducting complicated due diligence work under a compressed timeline, and working with external stakeholders (e.g. management, sponsors, investment banks, etc.)
    • Previous experience in restructurings and stressed investing is helpful, but not required
    • Ability to present an argument and distill complex information towards making an investment decision
    • Willingness to travel for work
    • Strong intellectual curiosity and a fast learner
