Job Summary
As a Systems Tester, you will provide 2nd level support for Common Support Services-Weather (CSS-Wx), providing expertise in software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems.
CSS-Wx is the single provider of weather data, products, and imagery within the National Airspace System (NAS), using standards-based weather dissemination via System Wide Information Management (SWIM). CSS-Wx makes available both NOAA and FAA NextGen Weather Processing (NWP) weather products for integration into air traffic decision support tools, improving the quality of traffic management decisions and reducing controller workload during severe weather. Products are provided via a set of common Web Services for weather, using internationally recognized data access and data format standards.
Responsibilities:
Support System development, testing, integration, deployment, and track PTR activities of the CSS-Wx
Participate in system test and key site test activities as a tester
Attend system design reviews; technical interchange meetings; any other meetings as requested to support program and team
Provide expertise in developing and updating web applications
Attend/contribute in regular meetings and/or telecons with Program Office
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twelve (12) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field OR
Master’s degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and nine (9) years of related work OR
PhD or Doctoral in a related field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science
Technical Proficiencies:
Able to support software applications in Linux and Windows environments
Able to debug software issues in Linux and Windows environments
Experience with project management
Knowledge of Linux shell scripts to support application software testing and administration
Experience with C, C++, Java, SQL
Proficient knowledge and skills of testing experience, ability to develop test documentation, (test plan, test procedures, test reports
Expertise to design and execute test activities with minimal direction
Second level experience (trouble shooting, fault isolation, and system restoration)
