JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking a Technician to be responsible for preparing plans in Microstation from provided engineering sketches and details for projects. This Technician will also be responsible for assisting with Bridge and Structure Inspections. SPONSORSHIP IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transfer engineering sketches and details to plans using MicroStation
• Perform 3-Dimensional CAD
• Perform basic computations
• Make quality control corrections to contract drawings
• Prepare exhibits for reports, public meetings or presentations
• Assist in the field performing bridge and structure inspections
• Write and review bridge inspection reports

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in CADD and 3-Dimensional design
• Proficient in Microstation
• Knowledge of drafting standards and procedures

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

• Technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting
• Experience working on MDOT (MDSHA, MDTA, etc.) projects
• Experience working on Bridge projects
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed within a general office environment most of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.  Inspections of transportation structures (bridges, retaining walls and culverts) will be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required, as needed.
