Position: The Cabin Coffee House Barista
Classification: Non-exempt
Hours per week: Part time, will average 20-25 hours per week
Work Schedule: (subject to change based on Coffee House needs, as determined by the Coffee House Manager) While school is in session:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 11:30 am to 4:30pm (or closing)
- Wednesday 11:00 am to 1:00pm
- Friday 11:30 to 4:00 pm (or closing)

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
- Experience as a barista making a variety of coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other food items.
- Knowledge of and experience with relevant technology
- Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
Position Summary:
The Coffee House Barista reports directly to the Coffee House Manager and provides an exceptional customer experience through the preparation and serving of beverages and edibles in a professional, warm and welcoming manner with an ever present “customer comes first” attitude. The Barista understands and demonstrates that connection with students and community is of the highest priority.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Possess and model a growing relationship with Christ and accept and uphold The Brook Hill School's Statement of Faith
- Seamlessly and deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into day-to-day duties
- Take an active role in ensuring the school's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing pertinent information and commentary to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives
- Welcome and greet customers in the coffeehouse and efficiently determine their needs and interests
- Create a positive and energetic atmosphere for every guest and employee
- Prepare and sell coffee products by closely following the prescribed preparation techniques and recipes for various coffee drinks like espresso, latte, and cappuccino
- Listen to customer complaints and queries and address their concerns in an efficient yet friendly manner, and report to the manager without delay
- Maintain prompt and friendly customer service
- Report potential safety hazards to the manager on duty without delay
- Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment
- Clean service and seating areas
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them
- Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products as directed by Coffee House Manager
- Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions
- Receive and process customer payments
- Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, breakfast tacos, cookies, etc.
- Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items
- Take out garbage
- Wrap, label, or date food items for sale
- Set up or restock product displays
- Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required as it relates to the duties described
- Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor, the Head of School, or another designee of the Head of School
