    We are looking for a creative, determined, and enthusiastic SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join us at Astute Global. 

    You will join a team set to transform our software products using the latest technologies to solve big and challenging problems.  If you are an independent thinker, eager to learn, and take extreme pride in your work then we would love to hear from you!

    The position is based in the Montreal office and will report to the VP of Development.

     

    YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    • Work with other developers and mangers to design solutions to complex problems.
    • Learn new technologies and methodologies.
    • Write code on any area of the technology stack: data access, business, application and presentation layers.
    • Be a resource to non-technical coworkers and customers, both through documentation and direct communication.
    • Ensure the quality of your and your team’s work.
    • Work as part of a small Agile team.
    • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
    • Ensure that the designs are complete and documented in Confluence. Code is developed according to design with no or low level of defects.
    • Mentor new hires including guiding and assisting in the education of both product knowledge and technical skills, as well as environment and tools.
    • Actively participate in the improvement of development procedures, workflow and process to improve quality and performance of developed software.
    • Independently develop designs other team members can utilize in the development of new features and modifications to existing features.
    • Design and implement testing processes within the code base to improve quality and performance of the software.
    • Consistently utilize Jira and Confluence for documenting designs, testing plans, feature functionality additions and modifications.
    • Work with other team members on integration points, new features and designs.
    • Ability to document and present product and technology in a manner where non-technical user can consume the information easily.
    • Adhere to company and team policies including accurately documenting tasks and reporting time in Jira.
    • Attend meetings as prescribed by Agile Kanban or Scrum process followed by the team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    THE POSITION REQUIREMENTS ARE:

    • Ability to conduct unit testing with both JavaScript and .NET.

    • Ability to mentor new hires.

    • Maintains a strong habit of continuously learning new programming languages and technologies.

    • Ability to participate in the improvement of development procedures and workflow processes as a group.

    • Self-starter who takes responsibility for assigned work.

    • Good communication and teamwork skills.

    • BA/BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.

    • Any of the following would be a significant advantage to any applicant:

    • .NET experience with C#

    • Relational database experience (SQL Server preferred, Redshift)

    • Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

    • Familiarity with Web Services (e.g. REST).

    • Agile development

    • Experience developing cloud applications, especially using Amazon Web Services.

    • Knowledge or experience with Social Platform APIs (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)

    • Experience with advertising on Social Platforms

    Required Experience

    • 3-8 years of experience required with development technologies:
    • Experience in design and documentation of software development.
    • Experience working with team members on integration points, new features and designs.
