    ABOUT THE COMPANY:  

    Cactus Varied Industries is a millwright and fabrication company located in Amarillo, TX.  A division of Cactus Feeders, Cactus Varied Industries offers a variety of millwright and fabrication services. Cactus Feeders, is 100% Employee Owned with its 800+ employees producing a million fed cattle and 700,000 market hogs annually with gross revenues of over $1 Billion. The Company has cattle feedyards throughout the Texas Panhandle and Southwest Kansas with hog operations in Iowa, South Carolina, and Georgia. 

     JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The welder/fabricator will be responsible for installing and repairing millwright machinery and troubleshooting mechanical failures. Additionally, the welder/fabricator will collaborate with other Cactus Varied Industries (CVI) employees to complete millwright projects and maintenance.

     ABOUT THE POSITION:

    • Acquire necessary licenses to operate forklift
    • Operate welding shop equipment to prepare components for welding such as shearing, breaking, punching, rolling and metal cold saw
    • Assist electricians, welders, and other skilled trades to complete assigned tasks
    • Assist in fabricating metal production components by using cutting torch and welding equipment
    • Assist in pipe fitting and bolting up flanges by using the proper techniques and tools to complete task
    • Assist in rigging process components for removal and installation by following proper rigging techniques to complete tasks
    • Attend group meetings to learn new or modified welding techniques, safety practices or to review new projects
    • Clean/degrease weld joint or work area by using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical spray to clean surface for welding

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Able to work in team environment and able to execute self-directed assignments with little supervision
    • Able to work in elevated areas, in a variety of environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc), climb stairs/ladders, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
    • Able to lift 50 lbs
    • Able to read and interpret blueprints
    • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
    • Display strong communication skills (oral and written)
    • Willing to work overtime and travel to feedyard locations throughout Kansas and Texas; Position is estimated to be 70% travel and 30% at CVI’s Millwright/Fabrication facility

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school, GED, or completion of Technical or Trade School certificate (Preferred, but not required)
    • 1-2 years of Welding and Fabrication experience
    • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
