    The Café General Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of our restaurant, including the selection, development and performance management of employees. In addition, they oversee the inventory and ordering of supplies, optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their overall experience. The Café General Manager reports to the company General Manager.

    Able to lead, manage and direct managers and service team.

    Implementing policies and procedures as well as being astute in re-enforcing them.

    Personnel

    Interview hourly employees. Direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees in coop with HR Manager.

    Conduct orientation and oversee the training of new employees.

    Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of Cafe staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the operation is staffed for all shifts.

    Guest Service

    Suggesting new menu items based on customers' preferences and feedback.

    Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.

    Financial

    Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.

    Ensuring that all café expenses are within budget and identifying ways to decrease operational costs.

    Receiving delivered café supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered.

    Taking inventory of café supplies and ordering new stock as needed.

    Food safety and planning

    Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.

    Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality food preparation and service.

    Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.

    Estimate none-food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of supplies.

    Must be ServSafe certified and will uphold all ServSafe guidelines.

    Estimate food and beverage costs. Work with Café Chef for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.

    Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly if a guest or employee is injured.

    • Café General Manager Requirements:

    College degree is preferred. Bachelor of Science degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.

    Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel), time management skills.

    Proficient in the following dimensions of Café functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.

    Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position in a fast casual food & beverage service operation.

    Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations whilst being Manager ServeSafe and ABC RBS certified.

    Entrepreneurial mindset being innovative, able to improve, think ahead and be keenly analytic, self-disciplined, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.

    Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.

    The ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.

    Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to Cafe problems.

    Must possess good communication, people and soft skills for dealing with diverse staff.

    Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.

    Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.

    Carry out weekly analytics and submit reports, suggesting improvements.

    Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 10-50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.

    Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, copiers, and other office equipment.

    This is a full-time post. Attendance will be required in line with the business requirements, including at weekends, holidays and in the early mornings as well as evenings.
