    Cairn Collaborative provides healthy, comfortable, and responsible low-energy, low-carbon residential design and construction on California's Central Coast. Cairn is looking for an Architectural Designer to join our team. This position will be responsible for generating the architectural drawings required for permitting with relevant agencies and executing Cairn's projects in the field. Our ideal candidate has a BArch degree and experience with AutoCAD. We are open to full-time or part-time candidates, with the option for this role to be remote. $27-$50/hr on payroll depending on experience.

    Job Description

    Overview

    A Cairn Architectural Designer is responsible for generating the architectural drawings required for permitting with relevant agencies and executing Cairn's projects in the field.

    Responsibilities:

    ● Performs pre-contract design in collaboration with principal, salesperson, and estimator

    ● Reviews design requirements and determines best design options for building the project.

    ● Creates building designs and highly detailed drawings using CAD software

    ● Creates architectural plans which meet the desired requirement and expectation of clients by designing according to budget and preference

    ● Provides drawings to principal and PM

    ● Modifies and updates designs based on review comments from other project development team members and agencies

    ● Works within constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact, and project budget

    ● Coordinates with structural engineers and architects

    ● Ensures proper documentation and record of all vital information related to a structural design

    ● Prepares design documents for permitting

    ● Documents and keeps record of architectural designs and other relevant information required for filing purposes.

    ● Maintains drawings storage on server or hard copy as appropriate

    ● Writes specifications as required

    ● Adapts plans according to circumstances for resolving any problems which may arise during construction

    Qualifications:

    ● Bachelor's degree in Architecture.

    ● In-depth knowledge of 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD is also essential

    ● Licensure is not required

    ● Creative design skills

    ● Communication skills: ability to interact with clients, engineers and other team members

    ● Mathematical skills: ability to make calculations to layout precise measurements for a structure

    Compensation range: $27-$50/hr Based On Experience and part-time or full-time employment

    Benefits: If part-time, paid vacation is two weeks after the first year of employment; accumulated sick days. If full-time, the same health package as field employees - California Platinum PPO - is offered with Medical, Dental, Vision after 6 months; Paid Vacations - 2 weeks after first year; 3 weeks each subsequent year; Mental Health Days; Monthly mental health reimbursement allowance of $200.
