Food Pantry Assistant
CEOC is Cambridge's designated anti-poverty community action agency. CEOC's mission is to eliminate poverty's causes and impacts. CEOC has maintained an aggressive struggle against poverty for over 50 years. CEOC has a rich history of implementing successful public policy organizing and advocacy efforts for affordable housing, health care and hunger relief.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in food pantry distribution and operations during pantry hours including: stocking shelves, setting out the produce and frozen products, welcoming patrons, and breaking down boxes
Ensure the equitable distribution of food products to all patrons.
Assist Food Pantry Manager with entering pantry visits into CEOC’s database by checking patrons in using a tablet
Receive, unload, and organize deliveries from The Greater Boston Food Bank on Thursday afternoons
Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all pantry spaces, including cleaning the tables, sweeping the floors, breaking down and recycling boxes, and ensuring trash is properly stored outside
Skills and Qualifications
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of community resources.
Experience and competence working with diverse communities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
Previous food pantry experience preferred.
Bilingual required
Computer and mobile device literacy required

Mondays, 1:30-6:00pm at 266A Rindge Ave
Tuesdays, 9:30am-2:30pm at 11 Inman Street
Wednesdays, 1:30-6:00pm at 266A Rindge Ave
Thursdays, 9:30am-3pm at 11 Inman Street
Physical Demands
This position is classified as Heavy Work. The physical demands required to perform the essential duties of heavy work include exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
