Full Time Program Assistant
Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee (CEOC) is a 501(c)(3) anti-poverty nonprofit organization and the City’s designated Community Action Agency (CAA). CEOC was established in 1965 as part of the federal "War on Poverty." Our mission is to empower people and mobilize resources to fight poverty's causes and impacts through education and organizing. We provide direct services to low-income individuals and families (i.e., free tax preparation, SNAP applications, food pantry, housing assistance, etc.) and advocacy and outreach work in the community. We prioritize populations that are frequently under-served: low-wage earners, individuals whose primary language is not English, those with disabilities, those living in subsidized housing, and seniors. CEOC is seeking a Program Assistant, reporting to the Director of Programs and Public Policy. The Program Assistant will assist with all administrative duties in support of CEOC’s programs, outreach efforts, and mission. Assist with all administrative duties in support of CEOC programs and outreach efforts, including printing, faxing, mailing, and calendar management
Support CEOC outreach by assisting with event scheduling and attending events
Provide some graphic design support, including creating and editing PowerPoint presentations, formatting proposals and stewardship reports, creating social media graphics, and editing photos
Solicit feedback from CEOC clients regarding their satisfaction with and participation in our programs by conducting client satisfaction surveys and assisting with community needs assessments
Provide coverage of reception department when needed
Assist with food distribution and client engagement in the CEOC food pantries
Maintain various records and logs related to staff and clients, including a staff training log, event attendance log, volunteer logs, etc.
Other duties as assigned, which are relevant to the work of the agency and the community
Requirements and Qualifications
1-2 years of professional experience related to poverty or social services
Commitment to CEOC’s mission to end poverty
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to work with diverse populations, with culturally competent practices
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and ability to multi-task
Computer literacy with proficiency in web-based communications, Google Docs, and the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Ability and willingness to learn
Superior facilitation, verbal, written, and presentation skills
Bilingual strongly preferred
Occasional evenings or Saturdays required
Physical demands This position is classified as light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.
