Job Description Under the supervision of the Summer Camp Manager, the Camp Instructor provides client guidance, instruction and supervision, and cares for all aspects of programming and structures related to the Camp Program. The major responsibilities of this position include the following but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service including instruction and facilitation of camp program activities
Maintain accurate program records and logs
Ensure the security and safety of camp grounds, facilities, program equipment and clients
Follow daily and seasonal program schedules
Inventory and inspect program equipment and areas
Prepare and care for all equipment and structures used for programming
Continual evaluation of programs and resources
Coordinate with other department employees and managers as needed
Ongoing communication with the department manager for policy and standards direction, departmental development and relevant business
Inventory and order equipment as needed
Provide positive public relations on behalf of Pathfinder Ranch and serve as the liaison between the Ranch and client groups
Comply with Health and Fire Department regulations, organizational policies and accreditation standards
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
18 years of age or older
Sincere interest and ability to work with children in the outdoors
Exhibit the ability to work well within the Pathfinder Ranch organization and with other employees
Willing and able to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner
Able to communicate effectively
Hold and maintain the following certifications issued by a nationally recognized provider: First Aid, Adult & Child CPR (at least 50% of the course must be in-person with a practical skills session). Preferred additional certification related to specialty areas such as: Lifeguard and/or Waterfront Lifeguard, archery, canoeing, challenge course, etc.
Complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner
Communicate and coordinate with participant parents/guardians/group liaisons
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work a varied shift schedule in excess of 10 hours per day
Ability to traverse several miles per day on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work at heights of up to 50’ above the ground
